so for dee’s true blood viewing party, i decided to make vampire cupcakes again. i previously made them for a twilight party with vanilla cupcakes and cherry filling. this time i decided to do chocolate with raspberry filling.
i used betty crocker dark chocolate cake mix and betty crocker whipped fluffy white frosting. i love raspberry so i found a great raspberry puree recipe. this was actually the most work, waiting for the raspberries to thaw and then mashing them through a strainer. but my daiso strainer with thin holes was great for this and didn’t let too many seeds through. after straining, i added sugar to taste (maybe 1/3 of a cup?). then i cut the cupcakes as described here. i skewered bite marks and dripped the sauce to make blood.
they turned out really well!
wedding invitations for sasha’s wedding!
after all of the photos i took in the planning and experimental stages, i forgot to take pictures of the final product! but i took pictures after she sent me mine (using the $10 light box i made a couple weeks ago). this is missing the reply card/envelope, but it was tucked in the pocket in the front.
this design is basically a vera wang ripoff, but it was customized with a craft theme!
embroidered oven mitts!
i monogrammed some oven mitts i found at target that are in sasha’s wedding colors. i don’t really embroider, but i think it turned out okay.
superbowl cupcakes! michael wanted peanut butter cupcakes with vanilla frosting, so i did a combination of those, chocolate frosting, and vanilla cupcakes. i did:
- 6 vanilla cupcakes with vanilla (blue/yellow) frosting
- 6 vanilla + mini chocolate chip cupcakes with chocolate frosting
- 6 peanut butter + mini chocolate chip cupcakes with vanilla (blue/yellow) frosting
- 6 peanut butter + mini chocolate chip cupcakes with chocolate chip frosting
i had some reese’s pieces so i garnished the frosting with chocolate chips and reese’s to help identify what was what.
the peanut butter cake recipe came from ann byrn’s chocolate cake mix doctor (found the recipe on yahoo! answers - third answer down).
just did a bridal shower for my best friend sasha. i premade some gift bags for out-of-town bridesmaids so i thought i’d photograph them. the shower was so much fun! it had a kitchen theme.
made a mario mushroom for michael for christmas. it was really quick and fun! from here.
this is a long-standing project that will probably take another year to finish! the uncle argyle scarf from son of stitch ‘n bitch.
my walls are still embarrassingly bare in my apartment, but a little while ago a neighbor was giving away things and i picked up a tyglosa wood frame. i browsed joann’s for a fun print and found this one. nice bright colors. i should’ve ironed the fabric before attaching it to the frame though.
did these a while ago for a going-away-to-new-zealand party!
